Rome, Sicily, Malta & Munich

We, along with our good friends, Barbara and Dick Seymour, signed up for a 3-week Elderhostel tour of Sicily - The Land of Extremes.  Since we flew from the US to Rome, we decided to spend a couple of days in Rome before heading to Palermo.  We arranged for a 9-hour whirlwind tour of Rome which we had read about in the NY Times travel section  - The Angels and Demons Tour - led by two young people who had their doctorates in Roman History and Iconography.  We didn’t miss a trick!   Had a half day at the Borghese Museum & Gallery and saw Tosca’s Church & Castle before flying to Palermo.  When the Sicily trip ended, we zipped over to spend a couple of days in Malta - The Crossroads of the Mediterrean , then had a 6 hour layover in Munich so we able to take in a bit of Munich and Joe’s first visit to the Hofbrau Haus.
